Trancoso

Trancoso was founded in 1586 and has its origins from an old Jesuit community, called São João Batista dos Índios. The charm, peaceful atmosphere and preservation attract many Brazilians and foreigners from over the world. The isolation and its rustic character is less present but the calmness still dominates.

It’s a small, cosy and seducing town. Lots of people abandonned everything to live here.

The cultural diversity is striking, many different people with diverse habits and customs live here.
The “Quadrado” can’t be left out when talking about Trancoso, it’s the touristic centre. At night everything is even more beautiful, the place is enlightened by the stars and it gets even better when the full moon brightens above the sea. It’s a magic place where romance is in the air.

You’ll see that there are lots of luxurious lodges visited by very rich and even famous people. The mystic and relaxed atmosphere of this village will make it an unforgettable experience.

Entertainment isn’t lacking. Different activities exist for everyone’s preference, horse-riding, airplane, boat or bike trips, etc. You’ll find a vast choice of gastronomic restaurants and bars. If you like dancing, you’ll have fun at the Pára-Raio, an open-air dancing, close to the Quadrado.
Yet during the day, there is a lot to do and see. I am talking about the marvellous beaches in the neighboorhoud of Transcoso: Praia de Caraiva, Praia de Taípe - Santuário Ecológico (where you’ll encounter the Lagoa Azul), Praia dos Nativos, Praia do Arraial D'Ajuda (lots of good restaurants and picturesque boutiques), Praia do Rio da Barra and Falésias, Praia do Espelho/Curuípe, Praia da Barra Rio Trancoso, Praia dos Coqueiros, Praia do Rio Verde (close to a nudist beach).

In order to get there, you’ll walk through an amazing tropical forest, with centenary trees, like jaqueira, mango, jacaranda and almond trees, without talking about the cliffs, fens, crystal-clear rivers etc. So many beautiful things will take your breath away. Everything has its own particularity and rare beauty.

 

Trancoso is composed of unforgettable sceneries for those who appreciate a different life style than the one led in a big city.
